Red Iron Oxide

Used on its own this oxide produces a classic ‘red oxide’ colour, akin to the classic metal paint –

2 – 10% produces colours from pale honey to dark brown depending on what it is combined with.  Combined with other oxides rich warm brown tones are introduced. Great for combining with other oxides.

All photographs show the oxide used in combination with JSC earthenware transparent glaze fired to 1140ºC. The results will vary depending on what glaze you use.
